Introduction
Caprolactam is the monomer for the synthesis of nylon-6 and engineering plastics. Hydrorefining of caprolactam is an important process to obtain high purity caprolactam. In the process of hydrorefining of caprolactam in magnetically stabilized bed (MSB) reactor, hydrogen is dissolved in caprolactam aqueous solution. Then the hydrogen-containing caprolactam aqueous solution contacts with amorphous nickel alloy catalyst in the liquid-solid MSB reactor. The unsaturate impurities in caprolactam aqueous solution are turned into saturated ones by hydrogenation. As result, the quality of caprolactam is greatly improved.
Technical Characteristics
Process characteristics
The MSB reactor process for hydrorefining of caprolactam is operated in the chain regime due to the interaction of the applied magnetic field. In this regime, the backmixing and entrainment of catalyst particles are small.
The hydrogen used in this process is dissolved in the feedstock, resulting in high mass transfer efficiency and stable bed state.
Operation flexibility
This unit runs stably within the range from 30% to 120% of the designed capacity, shows good operation flexibility of the technology.
Feed adaptability
This process is suitable for the hydrorefining of caprolactam aqueous solution with the concentration from 20% to 50%.
