Introduction

Ethylbenzene is a basic organic raw material to produce styrene. Sinopec has been engaged in the R&D of catalyst and technology for vapor phase alkylation of benzene to ethylbenzene for decades. The proprietary AB series catalyst and the technology have been commercially applied in many domestic plants.

Technical Characteristics

1. Single transalkylation reactor is applied. When the alkylation takes place, part of multi-ethylbenzene and benzene are simultaneously transalkylated in the alkylation reactor. The yield of ethylbenzene is high, and benzene azeotrope and C9-C10 heavy aromatics will not accumulate in the reaction system.
2. AB series catalyst with high activity, high stability and long regeneration cycle are used.
3. Utilize of multi-stage adiabatic fixed-bed reactor with novel internals benefits the uniform gas distribution. The reaction conditions can be easily controlled, and the mixing of reactant is good.
4. No corrosive catalysts and chemicals is used. The plant can be built by using carbon steel. No waste residues and waste gas are generated to pollute the environment. The process is environmentally friendly.
5. The recycled energy is efficiently utilized, resulting in low energy consumption.
