  • Technical Characteristics

Introduction

SED process is an extractive distillation process using sulfolane and co-solvent. The process can be used to recover high purity benzene, or benzene and toluene from hydrocarbon mixtures such as pyrolysis gasoline, reformate or coke oven light oil.

Technical Characteristics

1) Process Flexibility
SED process can be combined with liquid-liquid extraction process to expand capacity of the existing LLE unit. The combination process, which includes a new SED unit and an unchanged LLE unit, has the advantages of low investment and small influence on operation of the LLE unit during the revamping.
2) Feedstock Flexibility
SED is suitable for any kind of feedstock, either with high aromatics content such as pyrolysis gasoline and coke oven oil, or with low aromatics content such as reformate C6 cut.
3) Product Purity and Recovery Efficiency
Adopting excellent solvent, optimized process and advanced control strategy, SED process is able to produce high quality aromatics with high recovery efficiency. The typical product specifications and recovery efficiency adopting SED are listed in the following tables.
